In 2011, I chose "cleomedes" as the username for a throw-away reddit account, never thinking I would use it for more than a few days. I was reading the "Lectures on Astronomy" by the ancient astronomer Cleomedes at the time, and it was the first thing that came to mind. I have ended up using the pseudonym when discussing philosophy online ever since. Although most of what I post here relates to Stoicism, I am not a Stoic, but an eclectic with a variety of influences. Even where I think the Stoics present a vastly over-simplified picture, were unrealistic, or just wrong, I find them interesting.
Most posts here are, and will probably continue to be, refinements of posts and comments I have made on social media, mostly the r/Stoicism subreddit.
